Market vendor in Kumily, Kerala
"I wanted to touch base and tell you we can't say enough about how great this experience has been so far. Our driver is wonderful and very patient with this insane traffic. Our guide has been just incredible. He is so knowledgeable and yet witty, with a good sense of when enough is enough. I don't think we imagined the level of service in India to be this fine, or for things to go this smoothly. We are loving it so far - thanks so much!"

India

It's said that once the most seasoned traveller experiences India, every other destination seems underwhelming.

India is a tradition-filled country with a warm and tranquil spirit. Distinctive sights and sounds blend together to form a picture of beauty and serenity. The historic monuments are simply
breathtaking.

The lush countryside is a stark contrast to the vibrant, crowded cities where astonishing displays of wealth are juxtaposed with unsettling poverty. And who would not be humbled at the first glimpse of a Bengal Tiger in its natural habitat?

India may not be for everyone, but we're certain that uncovering its riches through the eyes of our local friends and colleagues will leave an enduring impression.

A postcard from India...

This country is one of extremes, a bombardment of the senses in the best possible way.

When I first landed in Mumbai, the peppery scent in the air struck me immediately. The drive into the city had my neck swiveling: the brilliant colours, the many styles of transportation sharing the road, the people. It was just amazing.

Outside the city, the scene changed. Mustard seed is in bloom, creating a patchwork of incandescent yellow in the green fields. The bucolic landscape is dotted with the brilliantly-coloured saris worn by its farmers. Every small town along our route is a thriving hub of merchants. The children rush out to wave us past, eager to have their photos taken.

Today, we've been up before dawn, driving through the jungle to the sound of birdsong, watching the sun filter its light through the ancient banyan trees. So far we have seen two magnificent tigers and loads of other wildlife.

At night we sit under the stars around a bonfire sharing tales of the day. We are soon headed south where we have a private houseboat through the backwaters of Kerala and an elephant ride through a spice plantation.

Really, could life get any more exotic?
