On a country walk in Surrey
"Our boutique hotel was a spot of genius on your part...five minutes' walk from the 'high street' and yet nestled in a quiet, tree-lined avenue, a neighbourhood all its own. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, well-designed rooms...the list goes on. Finally, your restaurant recommendations were the icing on the cake. My wife and I have already decided that we'll be contacting you when we book our next vacation!"

England

Long a favourite destination for history buffs and culture junkies, England is a place where nature, tradition, and pop culture have found a perfect balance.

London's museums, theatres, and monuments alone can keep one entertained for weeks. Most tourists head straight to Buckingham Palace and Oxford Street. They catch a West End show, take a day-trip to Stonehenge and a whirl on the London Eye and call it a trip.

That's not how we'd do it. We know England inside and out. We've lived there and traveled its byways from north to south, east to west. We know the most charming manor houses in the Lakes District, the best surfing instructors in Cornwall, and the tastiest jug of Pimm's and lemonade in Primrose Hill.

Oh, and our London does include the sights, shops, and palaces. We'd just prefer to take you there like a local would.

A postcard from England...

There's a reason why they call this corner of England the Golden Valley.

From the front door of our quaint cottage, we can see glistening pastures dotted with fluffy white sheep. The sky is a particularly bright shade of blue. As the sun's rays hit the centuries-old stone walls that frame our little village, they glisten like honey.

The tree branches in our garden are heavy with fragrant blossoms. Tulips have sprouted in vibrant shades of crimson, violet, and coral. In the distance, we can hear the melodic ring of church bells.

We have been spoiled rotten by our neighbours and newly-found friends. Jane from next door delivered some fresh eggs this morning (courtesy of her hen, Betty). The friendly "chap" who runs the pub - it's been in his family for five generations- treated us to a heaping plate of home-made fish and chips and a tall pint for lunch.

Our days have been spent exploring nearby villages and national parks. If we're not shopping for antique books or taking afternoon tea, we're hiking along the trails of the Costwold Way, or standing in awe under towering evergreens at Westonbirt Arboretum.

Spending late Spring in the Cotswolds has been truly special: we've already decided to come back next year.
